Kristoffer Ajer, CB

This is quite possibly the toughest one of all to swallow. Ajer has been a staple in the Celtic backline for quite some time, and has become a fixture on the first team. We have seen dominating performances from the centre-back as well as incredibly lackluster ones. It just depends on the day which version of Ajer will step onto the pitch.

The biggest reason we have Ajer pegged as a player whose time has come to an end with the Hoops is because of his agent. For the past few months Ajer’s agent has been loudly leveraging a move to a bigger club for his client. The Norwegian would likely want to eventually play for a larger club, possibly down South, and possibly for his former manager Brendan Rodgers.

It is quite possible that clubs will come clamouring for Ajer’s services this summer, and it will be hard for the player to turn down such offers. The club may be amenable to let him walk, especially for the right price, especially with his value as high as it is. It will be a surprise to us if Ajer makes a return next season considering the drama and media coverage surrounding his agent’s comments.
