Kristoffer Ajer responds to rumours started by his agent that would see the Celtic star exit the club during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Rumours have recently been swirling about the potential of centre-back Kristoffer Ajer exiting the club during the upcoming summer transfer window. These rumblings began when the Norwegian’s agent went on the record stating that Ajer would be looking for a big money move.

Since that time, there has been little more on the situation, but with the cat out of the bag, Celtic fans have taken to social media to express their thoughts. Ajer has been an interesting figure on the club in recent times.

Ajer plays with intensity, and when he is hot, he is nearly unstoppable. But, most of his critics will point to his lows which seem to last for weeks or months at a time. This has caused Ajer to become a frustrating player in many fans’ eyes. They understand the talent is there, and have seen it, but the consistency is lacking.

Now, Ajer himself has responded to these rumours when speaking to a local Norwegian TV station and transcribed by Daily Record:

"“I have two years left of the contract and do not focus on my future at all. What the media writes, I don’t focus on it.”"

There is nothing here denying the rumours, nor really confirming them. And sometimes that is enough. Ajer does nothing to squash the rumours, nor does he claim that he plans on staying with the Hoops through those two years left on his contract.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has already claimed that their would be a rehaul of sorts this summer in terms of the squad. It would not be surprising to see a new centre-back patrolling the pitch opposite of Christopher Jullien next season.
