Moritz Bauer, RB

The Austrian national was brought to Parkhead on loan from Stoke City. There were initially high expectations for the right-back, as he had won Russian-side Rubin Kazan’s Player of the Year in 2017. Instead, he had a lackluster debut, and with Hatem Abd Elhamed the first choice player Bauer would only ever get relief minutes.

When Elhamed went down with injury Lennon felt as if Bauer was not properly suited to be the main man and instead took a chance on the young and electric Jeremie Frimpong. The youngster impressed the front office enough to essentially hand him the keys to the right-back position during Elhamed’s absence.

This of course means that there is little need for Bauer as he will pack up his belongings and head back to Stoke City. Despite some players that Celtic brought on loan and wish to keep around on a permanent basis, Bauer is not one. We wish we could have gotten to see him play just a little bit more, but there truly was just not enough room or confidence to see it happen.
