After numerous rumours and multiple reports that a Victor Wanyama reunion could be in the works, it looks like Celtic will not be bringing in the former player.

Celtic has brought back players before, most recently in goalkeeper Fraser Forster. With struggles in the midifield, the Hoops are needing some extra firepower for the second half of the season. These two reasons have sparked rumours that Victor Wanyama could be back on his way to Parkhead.

Those rumours held some merit considering Hoops boss Neil Lennon would love to have him back, and Victor Wanyama was not finding time with the Tottenham. Victor Wanyama has publicly stated he would prefer to play with a club where he could see the pitch on a regular basis.

All of those sound like a perfect match between the former Celtic legend and his former club. But there seems to be one snag that has likely put this deal in the “Not Gonna Happen” bin.

As HITC has pointed out, Tottenham Hotspur’s Moussa Sissoko has been ruled out until April. This means that Victor Wanyama could be seen as the short-term replacement even if the club is actively looking for a replacement.

The Hoops need to make a big splash this transfer period by bringing in a couple £5-10 million signings to help instantly solidify the first team squad. Of most importance is a striker and then a midfielder who can play multiple positions on the field.

The Hoops have been linked to numerous strikers and a few midfielders during this winter transfer window . Hopefully some of those rumours can come to fruition.
