Celtic have been gifted health recently with the returns of Tom Rogic, Patrick Roberts and Marvin Compper. Now, it’s rumored that another crucial Bhoy has returned earlier than expected.

Craig Gordon sustained an injury during a match against Hibernian in January. The blow was expected to last from 10-12 weeks. The Celts thus turned to Dorus de Vries and also brought in Scott Bain.

The duo has been good enough to get by lately, but going back to the norm of Gordon between the pipes might be the reality sooner rather than later.

Signs of encouragement came from Gordon’s Instagram page. The picture shows gloves and cleats, while the caption says that he enjoyed having the equipment back on.

The Celts went through a similar situation with Instagram returns when Roberts took a photo with Kieran Tierney back in December of last year, as both were heading to Dubai.

Everything seemed to be going well before Gordon went down. Wins were almost a guarantee, Celtic were relatively healthy and the Bhoys looked confident heading down the stretch.

Gordon has posted near 2,000 minutes this season; having conceded 40 goals and 22 clean sheets.

Opinion

Going off what was being said before, Celtic just seem like a different squad when Gordon is between the sticks. Everything looks more official, and the Bhoys play with a lot more confidence.

Although it’s exciting to see Gordon back in training, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him out for a good portion of time, just as he’s supposed to. Similar hype was shown in the Roberts’ photo, but the youngster didn’t come back until this month.

There’s no rush for Gordon to come back. Dorus hasn’t been awful in net and he’s been competitive in fixtures where the Celts have won. Dorus is a heck of a lot better than Bain in net.

We want a completely healthy and ready-to-go Gordon. The Scot changes games, and the Hoops will need that type of player with less than five games remaining.

Put trust and hope into Dorus down this tough stretch of contests. Both will be needed as positions in the Scottish Premiership and the Cup can change in the snap of a finger.
