Celtic are fresh off their exercise with Brechin City in the Scottish Cup. Now, it’s time to turn the attention to Partick Thistle back in the league.
The Bhoys came out strong in their last meeting with the Maryhill side. Dominate possession numbers early allowed Stuart Armstrong and Kieran Tierney to send in the goals for a 2-0 victory.
Momentum could be taking a bit of a switch towards Partick this time. Even though they sit near the bottom in the table, Partick still put up a good showing at home.
The Celts, however, are ready to put the transfer month behind them and move into the second-half of the campaign. It will be interesting to see how the whole team performs considering injuries to the likes of Jonny Hayes and Marvin Compper.
The young Celtic lineup got the job done against a Scottish Championship side over the weekend. Brendan Rodgers‘ side looks bound to do the same in this one.
Callum McGregor seemed to pick up right where he left off before the break. Amazing interplay and passing from the 24-year-old showed fans just how much he is worth to the club. Dedryck Boyata and Kristoffer Ajer played very good at the back, too.
The Bhoys sit right at the top of the standings with 51 points. Unless some other squad goes on a miraculous run, the Bhoys look in good shape to win some domestic silverware at the end of the campaign.

The Bhoys have to get it done here though. The Glasgow side’s next three contests include opponents within the top five of the table before heading to Zenit in the Europa League.
It’s just one step at a time, and Partick should be some easy business. Their most dangerous threat is probably Chris Erskine with 4 goals domestically thus far, but with Partick’s 20 total team tallies, the 30-year-old finding the back of the net seems like a ling shot.
Craig Gordon hasn’t been needed much recently. Despite some question marks at the defense, Rodgers’ back four still keeps a maximum of 5 shots on their Scottish keeper in a contest.
A win for the Celts here would get them off to a good start for what’s ahead. Plus, the Hoops have another date with Partick in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup soon, so this game might be a good time to get some scouting done.
Prediction: Celtic 3-0 Partick
