Celtic would be foolish to sell Kieran Tierney

Celtic have the luxury of having probably the best player in Scotland at the moment in Kieran Tierney. The left-back plays a crucial part in Brendan Rodgers‘ back-line, and shows how commited he is to the Bhoys both on and off the pitch.

There’s no secret to Tierney’s dominant style of football. The 20-year-old is a relentless tackler if need be, and has 3 goals and 7 assists to go along with his other outstanding capabilities. As a result, the Hoops inked Tierney to a six-year deal back in October of last year.

The Scot has started off his contract perfectly. Tierney consistently produces sublime performances in seemingly every contest. It’s crazy to think that Celtic conceded so many goals in the Champions League group stage, but Kieran still found a way into the Champions League best XI.

He’s an absolute hero off the pitch as well. Tierney’s recent contributions to the Celtic Foundation made him one the ambassadors for the project. Rodgers has noticed what Tierney does overall for Celtic, and has given him the captain’s armband quite a bit over the course of his young career.

Other teams around Europe have also taken notice of what Tierney has to offer as well. It’s noted that monetary giants Manchester United are in on the left-back if they can’t sign Tottenham’s Danny Rose in this window.

What’s even more insane about the recent development is that Man U are rumored to come in with a bid of near 20 million pounds for Tierney. Here’s what HITC had to say on the matter:

More from The Celtic Bhoys

"Celtic will demand a good price for their priced asset though, but he would still represent a cheaper alternative to Rose. The 20-year-old is arguably one of the best left-backs in Scotland, and he is a key player for Brendan Rodgers’ side.He signed a six-year contract with Celtic in October, and would cost around £25 million. Tierney is a natural attacking left-back, but he has played at right back for Scotland."

As the publication mentioned, Kieran features more on the left side. If United were to need a right-back, it’d seem kind of silly to buy Tierney and put him out of his natural position.

Plus, it seems insulting that Jose Mourinho would come in with such a low offer for probably one of the best young defenders in the world. The Celts would have to counter with an offer over double the amount mentioned above, but selling him in the first place would be really ludicrous.

Everybody knows that contracts don’t matter in the least bit within the world of football. If a super-club wants a player, it seems they’ll go to no end in every window until they get what they want. Take a look at Philippe Coutinho and Barcelona for example, as the Blaugranes were constantly linked with the Brazilian for months.

Celtic would be foolish to even think about selling Tierney. The Scot has barely entered his prime yet and he still possesses a ton of skill and leadership. Man U seem to be low-balling it with a potential offer, and there’s no way that the price is going to see the Red Devils win the benefit of Tierney’s prime.

No way that the Celts even consider selling Tierney, right? Is Manchester United’s offer seem kind of insulting for the left-back? Let us know in the comments section below.
