Moussa Dembele has been linked to a variety of clubs throughout Europe. For a portion of time, surprisingly, Brendan Rodgers and the rest of the Celtic board have been quiet regarding a potential move for the Frenchman.

Early in December of last year, Rodgers noted that it would be “morally wrong” for the Bhoys to block a move for Dembele if the striker wanted to go. However, it’s looking as if the attacker may not want to move away after all.

Chris Hughton‘s Brighton and Hove Albion have been rumored with interest in Dembele, especially considering their position on the Premier League table. Other teams awaiting a signature from the France native include Leeds United, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea.

The race for Dembele seems to be led by Brighton at the moment, as a plethora of publications continue to suggest communication between the Celts and the EPL side. Rodgers, though, suggested otherwise as Football Transfer Tavern notes.

More from The Celtic Bhoys

"‘There’s been huge speculation, certainly on this particular one.‘There were certainly some quotes going back a little while ago about figures and about some communication between the two clubs.‘Categorically, there hasn’t been any communication between the two clubs.’"

Even Hughton has said in the past that despite Dembele being a good player, he still is with the Bhoys and will remain there unless the champions were willing to sell.

Moussa has scored 40 goals in all competitions in his career with the Hoops, including 8 tallies that he’s scored this campaign.

The news should be really comforting for Celtic fans as transfer news around the Glasgow side seems to be submerged around Dembele.

Honestly, it feels as if Celtic should/have to hang onto Dembele for as long as they can. His contact is set to expire in 2021, so the Bhoys should get the best from Dembele out of those four years.

Plus, Dembele would be entering his prime during those next few years. Rodgers and Celtic fans alike should let him create his magic with the Celts for as long as possible before making a choice to sell him.
