Lewis Morgan has been in blistering form as of late. Recently, Celtic have reportedly come close to bringing the wonderkid to Paradise.

The recent news comes from Sky Sportswho note that the season-ending injury to Jonny Hayes will only progress the Celts in the race for Morgan’s signature.

"There had been reports the recent season-ending injury suffered by Celtic winger Jonny Hayes could complicate the move and see Morgan join up with the Premiership leaders in January."

At the moment, there seems to be no rumors of any Celtic midfielders heading out in this window. English Championship side Cardiff City seemed ready to bid on Hayes, but decided to move away from the bid after the injury.

Morgan has 3 goals in his last two matches, and has a total of 13 goals in all competitions this season for St. Mirren.

The rumors of a potential completed signing come as a bit of a surprise especially after St. Mirren boss Jack Ross played down the likeliness of a transfer not too long ago. However, Sky Sports goes on to say that Ross would allow a move for Morgan, but the 21-year-old would play out the rest of the season with the Championship side.

More from The Celtic Bhoys

"St Mirren boss Jack Ross said on Tuesday that Morgan’s future will be sorted this week and, if a deal to Celtic is completed, he will return to the Paisley club on loan for the rest of the season."

The focus of the transfer window thus far seems to be targeted in two specific areas on the pitch; the midfield and defense. Aside from Marvin Compper, the Hoops have yet to bring in another member of the backline as rumors continue to suggest that up to three Celtic defenders could be out in this window.

Regardless, more talent in the midfield should always be a want among Celtic fans. The Bhoys may not be done either as Charly Musonda continues to roam around the market in search for more playing time.

If Morgan does join up with the Celts next season, it will be interesting to see how Brendan Rodgers decides to use him. Right now, Scott Sinclair and James Forrest are in good form, but who knows if that will progress into the next campaign. Plus, Sinclair has been used more on the wing this season.

Yet, the only worry at the moment should be winning over the signature of the Scot. Morgan’s market value is near 100,000 pounds, so Celtic might need to double the money to get St. Mirren interested.

Keep an eye on Morgan’s development for the rest of the season in the second tier because sooner or later, he might be lighting it up in the Scottish Premiership.
