Paradise was buzzing as another Glasgow Derby was dawning upon fans of both sides.

However, one set of fans might have left Celtic Park a little more happy then another set of fans. Rangers got the better of Celtic in this one, leaving Paradise with a point and a 0-0 draw.

The game didn’t really have much of an impact on the standings. The Bhoys still sit top of the table with 51 points, while Rangers finally eclipsed the 40 point threshold.

It wasn’t that early dominate possession type football that Brendan Rodgers has incorporated recently. Instead, Rangers used that as an advantage to try and hit the Hoops on the break. Josh Windass got sent in on the break, but Mikael Lustig cleared the ball away.

Scott Brown could’ve had a nasty head on collision with Jason Holt in the 25th minute, but luckily the ball separated the two skulls from hitting each other. Of course, the Celts’ skipper had plenty to say to Holt after the near impact.

Callum McGregor was pretty active from the midfield today. However, it may not have made much of an impact. McGregor’s shots seemed to always sail way over the bar and out.

More from The Celtic Bhoys

Scott Sinclair had the best chance of the first half when a low ball from Stuart Armstrong fell right to his feet. The 28-year-old sent his chance inches wide of Wes Foderingham.

James Tavernier tried to send a volley into the back of the Celtic net, yet his chance got tipped away beautifully by Craig Gordon to keep it level.

McGregor had one more crack at goal with a heading attempt, but the shot went nowhere near the target. Nobody on the Rangers defense was marking him either.

That’s really how the derby ended. Celtic still controlled possession with 56 percent, but they really couldn’t do anything with it. 4 of the Bhoys 11 total shots were considered on target.

It may not have been the best result for Celtic, but a point in the standings should be taken. The whole objective is to win the league, so one match shouldn’t be ridiculed that much even though it may be one of the most important games of the year.

The Celts have an even more important task in the January window with several players expected to leave and arrive. After the break ends, the Hoops host Brechin in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on the 20th of January.
