Should Celtic loan out Kundai Benyu?
By Nick McAdam
It shouldn’t be a secret by now that Celtic have a big transfer window coming up. Decisions have to be made on who to sign and sell, and the timing can’t be more critical considering the daunting fixture list after the league break.
Some hard choices, of course, had to be made on current players future status’ with the club. Several players – more specifically on the defense – have been rumored with a permanent move away from the Bhoys. Others need more playing time that can’t be achieved with the Hoops, making the loan option a lot more desirable.
One of those players under the latter option would be Kundai Benyu. The 20-year-old hasn’t been able to make any impact with the Celts since arriving from Ipswich Town over the summer, and his playing time plays a big part on his overall impact.
He’s started one game in the Scottish Premiership this season while making four total appearances across all competitions. The midfield of Celtic comes with some stiff positional battles that seem rather unlikely for Benyu to win.
With the January window coming up, it makes the most sense to loan Benyu out. HITC compiled a list of what they believe Celtic needs to do in the window, and loaning the Zimbabwean midfielder out was one of those necessities. Here’s what the publication had to say:

"Whilst summer signings Olivier Ntcham and Odsonne Edouard have made an impact this season, the same cannot be said for midfielder Kundai Benyu. With Scott Brown, Stuart Armstrong, Callum McGregor, Olivier Ntcham and Tom Rogic among Rodgers’ midfield options, Benyu isn’t in line for playing time any time soon, and loaning him out could be wise."
Obviously loaning him to clubs in the lower tiers of their respective country would make the most sense.
Playing time is a need for players at Benyu’s age. It’s very unlikely for Benyu to make an impact with Celtic given his age and his recent arrival. The Bhoys need to continue developing their young players properly. The midfield, like many other areas on the pitch, isn’t getting younger. Players such as Benyu can only help the Hoops transition into the future.

Celtic should consider loaning out Benyu, right? Any other players that need to be sold or loaned? Let us know in the comments below.
