Celtic’s new rumored loan target
By Nick McAdam
The January window is now getting closer by the minute. As the window dawns upon the world of football, the rumor mill only boils up. The rumor mill only gets more interesting regarding Celtic’s top targets.
The Bhoys tested the loan market with 19-year-old sensation Odsonne Edouard. The attacker from PSG notched a hat trick against Motherwell not too long ago. Celtic, of course, have the option of buying the young Frenchman at the end of the loan period.
It’s looking like Celtic are looking at another loan target from an elite club. Charly Musonda is reportedly not happy with his playing time at Chelsea. Recently, the Blues boss Antonio Conte revealed that the striker will go out on loan come January.
The lack of playing time from the 21-year-old reflect in his stats. The native of Belgium only has two total goals in all compositions this season – none of which come from the Premier League. Musonda has only amassed 26 total minutes in England’s top-flight.

Even though Musonda hasn’t been able to put up the numbers, his dribbling capabilities are beyond superb. Last season with Real Betis, the young attacker had the second most successful dribbles in La Liga with 57, only behind Neymar (75).
The Bhoys appear to be the top candidate for Musonda’s signature, but his presence will come with some competition. According to several sources, Rafa Benitez has been targeting Musonda since last summer, and will look to secure his services in the upcoming window. Newcastle are not short on money either.
Roma have also reportedly joined the battle for Chelsea’s wonderkid.
Overall, Celtic have the opportunity to sign another young player with potential. This can never be a bad thing, especially since he’d likely be on loan. The Hoops might also have the option of signing him at the end of the term as well, similar to that of Edouard.
The Celts need to start building for the rest of the season. The Scottish Premiership can be won easily by Celtic, but the Europa League might come with some challenge. It will be interesting to see how Brendan Rodgers and the rest of the board bulk up for what’s ahead.
