Welcome along to our next Q&A. Our next guest is Politician, Broadcaster and Writer, George Galloway. George is another Celtic fan who’s made no bones about which team he supports when asked. Welcome along to “The Celtic Bhoys” Sir. Thanks for taking the time out of your very busy schedule to do this tonight.

What was your first memories of Celtic?

I was fascinated as a boy by Neil Mochan who played for Dundee United but was a member of the Celtic family before and after. When Celtic came to Tannadice to play, Neily would travel home on the Celtic team bus.

Who got you into supporting Celtic or was it something you stumbled upon yourself?

I was born to an Irish immigrant mother in Lochee, the Irish quarter of Dundee. My father supported Dundee United (formerly Dundee Hibernian) but my grandfather – an Irish Republican – supported Celtic. The gravitational pull towards Celtic was stronger. Though only half an Irishman I have always felt more Irish than Scottish.

Which one Celtic game sticks out for you as your favourite?

Has to be Lisbon!!

Who is your favourite player to have worn the Hoops?

Henrik Larsson.

Does Politics have a place at Celtic Park or Football in general?

Politics is in most things. Celtic was born of the Irish diaspora dispersed by imperial occupation exploitation and war. The diaspora then faced bigotry discrimination and sectarianism. Can’t get a more political gestation than that!

Which player that never played for Celtic, would you have loved to have realistically seen in the Hoops.

Graeme Souness!!

Finally George, What do you think of the current Celtic side and the job Brendan Rodgers is doing?

I’ve always admired Brendan Rodgers and think we are lucky to have him. Although Celtic now have some good players you’ll have to forgive me for saying that for someone my age, this and probably future squads fall short of those I have seen. The future for Celtic if it was up to me would be in another league.

Thanks for taking part in this George. I’m not sure the Graeme Souness answer will be popular haha. A fantastic player though no doubt about that. His honours at Liverpool say it all. The Politics in Football question is something that is debated frequently on Social Media so thanks for clearing that up too. We at “The Celtic Bhoys” would not only like to thank you for taking part in this but we’d like to wish you the best of luck with all your future endeavours. HH George!!
