This game was built up to be a cracker. A 2-2 draw at Celtic Park a couple of weeks ago had wet the appetite but with Hibs having failed to sell 10,000 briefs for today’s match, did their fans expect to win?  There was two more goals in today’s game but they went to the Invicibles.

As Celtic got off the flight from Germany the last thing the team probably wanted 48hrs later, was a Semi Final at Hampden against an energetic Hibs side. Or so most of us thought. The first half didn’t pan out that way. Celtic controlled the pace and Gordon didn’t have a thing to do really.

The opening goal came from probably Leigh Griffith’s worst ever free kick. I don’t know what he was trying to do. After a bit of football pinball from the resulting free kick, the ball got swung into the box. A flick on from Boyata found an unmarked Lustig and his shot found the back of the net.

Celtic continued to control the game and then just before half time, a Griffiths corner came in and confusion again in the Hibs defence let Lustig slot in his second. The Hibs goalie will be having nightmares tonight as he should’ve done better.

More from The Celtic Bhoys

The second half begun with a shocking decision. Boyata clearly won the ball in the box against Boyle but the officials unbelievably gave a spot kick. Stokes stroked the ball away easily. 2-1.

As it looked as though Hibs might go on and get a second Celtic hit back again. Dembele took his goal well. Can the Frenchman rip the striking role back off Griffiths? He went on to get a second so he leaves Brendan Rodgers with a decision to make for sure.

Hibs got the game back to 3-2 before Dembele gave us daylight again with the fourth. Brendan Rodgers will definitely be having a word with the officials after that crazy penalty decision for sure after the game.

To sum today up, 4-2 is a cracking result against a really good Hibs side. We’ve had a hard run recently and with Dembele looking back to his best, the competition for places for the final should bring the Bhoys on that bit more.

Aberdeen up next in another tough game for our Bhoys. Whilst some sides are shouting about going for 55, we’re going for 61!!
