The news of Celtic finally securing the long-awaited loan deal for Patrick Roberts is still settling in. However, there is still plenty of business for Celtic to do if it wants to compete on the European stage.

A set of shocking defensive displays by the pairing of Nir Bitton and Kristoff Ajer and a serious lack of goal-scoring in domestic play as of late highlight Celtic’s big needs.

Some would argue a central defender is top priority for the club, and you’d be hard-pressed to get an argument against that here.

But, it appears that manager Brendan Rodgers may be able to solve a big depth problem up front first.

According to multiple reports, Celtic are interested in securing a loan move for PSG starlet Odsonne Edouard.

The 19-year-old appears to have a bright future, but minutes will likely be hard to come by given PSG’s insane spending on attacking options this offseason.

More from The Celtic Bhoys

Edouard has long been on the international radar, having starred for the France U-17 team at the World Cup in 2015. He won the Golden Boot and the Golden Player award at that tournament and has starred at the next level as a U-19 representing Les Bleus.

Last season Edouard went out on loan to Ligue 1 side Toulouse, where he made just 17 appearances and scored one goal in the process. Clearly his professional club career needs more work.

What better place to get that work than in a system with fellow French international Moussa Dembele? It seems like a smart move given Rodgers’ growing reputation for spotting and developing some top young talent.

It also would make sense for the Celtic bottom line, as a loan costs next-to-nothing and could be a mutually beneficial relationship.

Should this move go through it could be a very interesting one, with Celtic and PSG paired in the same Champions League group. However, the hope for the Hoops has to be that stars Dembele and Leigh Griffiths would be perfectly fit and ready to go over him in the next few weeks.

Of course, this is when rumors and silliness tend to go on overdrive, and we should be skeptical of any rumor. But, this one seems to check plenty of the boxes as one to pay attention to in the next few days.
