Celtic vs. St. Mirren: Starting XI’s and Analysis
With the Scottish League Cup already in hand and the Scottish Premiership title all but officially wrapped up, there is but one thing left on the domestic plate for Celtic.
Of course, we’re talking about the Scottish Cup and on Sunday the Hoops will look to take the next step towards a domestic treble and an unbeaten domestic season. Standing in their way will be St. Mirren, who have struggled mightily this season.
The Buddies currently sit bottom of the Scottish Championship division, five points off the next closest side, Ayr United, on just 20 points this season. Given the nature of the opponent, will Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers change up the squad and give some of the regulars a rest in this quarter-final matchup?
Let’s take a look at the Starting XI’s for these two sides.

Analysis:
Celtic supporters shouldn’t be too shocked by Rodgers Starting XI in this contest. It features about the strongest squad possible given injuries and form. In fact, it is the same Starting XI that won 4-0 at Inverness at the mid-week.

However, this squad does feature some intrigue on the bench as we see the return of injured players Jozo Simunovic and midfielder Patrick Roberts to the squad. We also see the name of Kouassi Eboue on the team sheet for the first time since his arrival in January.
It appears that Rodgers has designs on getting some of these guys playing time should Celtic take care of business quickly in this match.
So, let’s see if Eboue can get on the pitch for some meaningful minutes in this one. We also wonder if we’ll see Leigh Griffiths and Patrick Roberts feature should things get out of hand early on the score sheet.
While the matchup seems overwhelmingly easy, this is the Scottish Cup and cup competitions have had crazier things happen.
Still, Rodgers appears ready to put his best side out there and make sure nothing crazy happens at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon.
