30 in a row? No bother. 31 in a row? Easy. Celtic made sure to make win No. 31 in a row in domestic play this season an easy one over Motherwell.
A pair of first half goals was all Celtic needed to dispatch of bottom-half club Motherwell on Saturday at Celtic Park.
Motherwell parked the bus from the get-go, but eventually the pressure got to them.
Celtic got Moussa Dembele going in the middle of the first half, eventually earning a penalty and slotting home the spot kick for a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute.
The floodgates opened up after that, with the Bhoys doubling their lead just before the half courtesy of a great strike across goal by James Forrest in the 41st minute.
Another big effort from Forrest nearly made it 3-0 before the half, but Motherwell goalkeeper Craig Samson was up to the challenge to keep the scoreline down.
The half ended shortly after and Celtic went in to the locker room up 2-0 and with a 6-2 advantage on shots. In fact, it was about as dominant a first half as one could expect given there were times where Motherwell had all 11 players behind the ball.
Celtic spent much of the second half running possession and wondering what it needed to do to get a call.

Official Don Robertson had a laugher in the second half, if only it didn’t get so serious so quickly. He started the rough second half by allowing Kiernan Tierney to get racked down his leg by Motherwell without a red cad.
Somehow a player who wasn’t going for the ball, went studs up and kicked Tierney right down his left leg escaped with a strong warning and a yellow card.
He compounded things by waving off a clear obstruction call as Dembele was springing Scott Sinclair free on Motherwell’s goal in the 78th minute. Replays clearly show the Motherwell defender running in to Sinclair on purpose just as the ball was being hit free on goal from Dembele.
Minutes later Celtic was then called for a phantom foul in the midfield and the howler went on and on for Robertson as the game drew nearer the end.
Celtic dominated possession and the match in the second half, taking 63 percent of the ball on the day to go with the pair of goals.
No doubt Motherwell will see not allowing Celtic to extend a 2-0 lead as a moral victory. However, the full points going to the Hoops is all that matters.
Celtic now sit on 73 points with a 27-point advantage on Sevco, who will play tomorrow looking to narrow the gap back down to 24 points (as if it really matters at this point).

It appears as if the 11th of March is going to be the day to watch should Sevco win out…and that would mean the chance to clinch the title on the day the Bhoys take on Sevco.
Nothing could be sweeter than winning another title while beating Sevco to clinch, right?
