Celtic FC and Manchester City: Who Represented Both Clubs?
Celtic FC and Manchester City are both clubs with proud histories, one with a bit more titles though, and there are a few players who represented both clubs.
Celtic FC have used Manchester City as a sort of pipeline for talent in recent years by taking on several young players on loan from the Premier League club. The Hoops have also signed a few of the more senior members of City’s squad now and in the past. Here are a few players who have worn the shirt of both clubs.
Craig Bellamy
Celtic FC: 15 appearances, 9 goals
Man City: 51 appearances, 15 goals
Bellamy played for Celtic FC on loan under Martin O’Neill in Janury 2005 and only stayed with the club for half a season but still won a trophy in the Scottish Cup.
After stints with Liverpool and West Ham, Bellamy made the move to Manchester City and was a star with the Citizens before they became one of the best clubs in England. He did not win any silverware with the club but was a popular figure among supporters much the way he was at Celtic FC.

Georgios Samaras
Celtic FC: 248 appearances, 74 goals
Man City: 65 appearances, 12 goals
Georgios Samaras had an excellent career with Celtic FC after joining in 2008 after a six month loan spell that became permanent. The Greek forward won the Premiership four times, the Scottish Cup twice, and the League Cup once during his six year stint with the Hoops.
He was not nearly as successful in his two and a half years with City but he did manage to score 12 goals in 65 appearances for the Citizens.
Kolo Toure
Celtic FC: 9 appearances, 0 goals
Man City: 103 appearances, 3 goals
Kolo Toure is one of the more decorated active players in world football. The Ivorian defender has won the Premier League twice, once as a member of the Arsenal Invincibles, the FA Cup three times, and the Africa Cup of Nations.
He is of course new to Celtic but he brings with him a great deal of experience at the age of 35. He was part of City’s first ever Premier League title and will look to experience the same level of success with the Bhoys.
Scott Sinclair
Celtic: 11 appearances, 7 goals
Man City: 19 appearances, 0 goals
Scott Sinclair is one of those players that supporters think is much older than he is because of how long he has been around as a footballer. He made his senior debut at just 15 for Bristol Rovers and went on to play for 11 other clubs before coming to Celtic FC.
His move to Manchester City was a failure as he made just 19 appearances in three years but he has gotten off to an excellent start at Celtic Park. The 27-year-old appears to have found a new home in football and he is making himself very comfortable.

Mick McCarthy
Celtic: 64 appearances, 1 goal
Man City: 163 appearances, 3 goals
Mick McCarthy spent four season as Manchester City in the 1980s, helping the club earn promotion to the First Division in 1986. The club was set to be relegated after the 1987 season but McCarthy would make the move to Celtic to avoid playing in the second division again.
He went on to make 64 appearances for the Hoops before making a move to Lyon in 1989. During his time with Celtic, McCarthy won the league title and two Scottish Cups, his only titles as a player.
