Kyogo Furuhashi has been a superstar for Celtic since arriving in the summer of 2021. He was the face of the Ange Postecoglou era and scored 54 goals in two seasons under the management of the Australian, including in finals and Glasgow derbies. His numbers have dropped since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers as manager but he remains a starter for the Scottish champions.

On top of that, Kyogo is one of the most popular players that Celtic have had in recent times. So, most fans would not want to see him leave anytime soon.

Yet, the Japanese forward continues to be linked with a Parkhead exit. In the summer, Manchester City were rumoured to be interested in him as a replacement for Julian Alvarez.

Now, rumours are doing the rounds online that Kyogo is closing in on a move to Atlanta United. It remains to be seen how accurate the speculation is but one can only hope that it proves to be wrong.

Atlanta United previously signed Giorgos Giakoumakis from Celtic and he proved to be a grand success in the MLS before moving to Cruz Azul. Now, the American club could be looking to repeat the trick with Kyogo.

To be honest, we have never seen Kyogo at his best in Rodgers' system. But even then, it would be a bold move to say goodbye to him in the middle of the season, when the Hoops do not have a better option up front.

Adam Idah was signed in the summer from Norwich City for a significant transfer fee after an excellent half-season loan spell at Parkhead. But he has not convinced enough to be given the starting role, scoring 8 goals so far and mostly being used as an impact substitute.
