Celtic could do with some strengthening in their forward ranks following recent departures. Kyogo Furuhashi left to join Rennes, bringing an end to his legendary run in Glasgow. On the other hand, Luis Palma joined Olympiacos on a loan basis. The Hoops did make one addition, signing Jota, but more reinforcements were needed.
Of course, the focus will now shift towards the summer transfer window. It looks like a French forward, currently playing in Scotland, has caught the eye of Celtic. Unfortunately for the Hoops, other teams are looking to sign him as well.
As reported by 225foot, Wolfsburg and Celtic Glasgow are interested in Elie Youan. The Bundesliga club are leading the race and intend to offer €1.3 million to Hibernian for the French talent.
Youan has been dealing with fitness issues throughout this campaign and has not played much. But last season, he did score 10 goals and also provided 10 assists for Hibernian, which goes to show what he is capable of when fit and in form.
Wolfsburg readying bid for French forward Celtic want
Celtic have not been very active when it comes to signing players from other Scottish teams in recent years. But it looks like Youan is the type of player worth making an exception for.
Of course, signing Youan would have its benefits. He has been at Hibernian for a few years now. So, Celtic would need to give him much time to adjust to life in Glasgow. At the same time, one would think that it would not take a significant transfer fee to sign someone playing at Hibernian.
Youan has a decent bit of pedigree though. The 25-year-old has also played for FC Nantes, KV Mechelen and FC St Gallen. On top of that, he had a great track record in the youth international levels while representing France.
