Wilfried Nancy has not been announced as the new permanent manager of Celtic yet. But it is believed to be only a matter of time from here. Martin O'Neill might only remain in interim charge for one more game, which looks set to be one against Hibernian away at Easter Road. To be honest, we would have wanted to see him stay until the Scottish League Cup final. Leaving right now comes with the risk of disrupting the momentum that has been built up.
Then again, it looks like Celtic have already made their decision. Perhaps the club want to give Nancy a chance to win a trophy early in his run at Parkhead to win over the support quicker.
Nancy's arrival could result in turning around the situation of a few players as well, who were out of the picture when Brendan Rodgers was the club's manager. Could Luis Palma be one of them?
Palma is currently out on loan at Lech Poznan. He is doing well and the Polish club are believed to hold a buyout clause. But that has not stopped the winger from being linked with a return to Celtic. As reported by Once Noticias, new decisions from Scotland could alter his immediate future. With Nancy set to arrive, the option opens up for the Honduran winger to return to the club.
Honduran winger tipped to make Celtic return under Wilfried Nancy
Of course, such a possibility cannot be ruled out. If Nancy believes that Palma could be an integral part of his team, the winger himself might end up considering a return. At the end of the day, Celtic are a bigger club than Lech Poznan.
Palma did enjoy a spectacular start to life at Celtic. At his best, we know that he is well capable of delivering not only in the Premiership but in the Champions League as well.
But once he lost his place in the team, on the back of a bad run of form, he never really got a chance to regain his spot as a striker. One could argue that he deserved more backing from Rodgers.
Then again, there are a lot of decisions that Rodgers made during his second spell as Celtic manager that can be questioned. For example, Callum Osmand looked like a revelation before his recent injury but was never given a chance before O'Neill's arrival.
