Right now, all the talk surrounding Celtic is regarding their next permanent manager, which is expected to be Wilfried Nancy, and players they could potentially sign in the upcoming winter transfer window. Understandably so as the club are clear in need of some reinforcements and while it might be difficult to say goodbye to Martin O'Neill, who has been phenomenal as interim boss, it was always clear that he was not going to be a long-term solution at 73 years of age.
It is easy to forget, amidst all this talk, that Celtic's players are drawing the interest of other clubs as well. In fact, it looks like Liverpool are hoping to sign one of them.
As reported by the Daily Record, Liverpool have Dara Jikiemi high on their summer radar. Anfield academy chiefs are pushing to do a deal for the Celtic youngster.
On the other hand, Celtic are said to be aware of Liverpool's interest in Jikiemi. It is only at the end of this season that the youngster will be able to sign professional terms with the Hoops. But if he chooses to leave for Anfield, the Scottish giants will only be due a compensation fee for his training.
Liverpool pushing to sign Celtic player next summer
It is very easy to draw comparisons with the situation of Ben Doak. And perhaps that is something that Jikiemi should keep in mind as well.
Doak left Celtic to join Liverpool early in his career. His time at Anfield did not go as well as he would have hoped though and he has already left the club.
That being said, it did earn him a £20 million move to Bournemouth. So, one could argue that even if he did not make it at Liverpool, it did enhance his reputation significantly.
