Celtic have been linked with quite a few strikers in recent times as they search for a replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi, who left this winter to join Rennes in Ligue 1. Talks for Mathias Kvistgaarden and Kelechi Iheanacho no longer seem to be advancing. And it remains to be seen what the situation is surrounding David Strelec of Slovan Bratislava.
There is not a lot of time left between now and the end of the transfer window. But do not be surprised if names of more strikers crop up in the Celtic transfer rumour mill.
Evan Ferguson is someone who has been linked with a move to Celtic on quite a few occasions in the past. Especially after it emerged that Brighton & Hove Albion were willing to send him out on loan this winter after his struggles to get into the Seagulls' team lately.
Unfortunately, it is not Celtic were the striker will end up on loan. As reported by Dharmesh Sheth, West Ham United have agreed a deal with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Ferguson. It is a straight loan until the end of the season. The striker is expected to travel to London this afternoon for his medical.
West Ham United agree deal to sign Celtic-linked striker
That is one more name that Celtic fans can chalk off from their list of potential striker signings ahead of deadline day. One can only hope that they do end up signing one before the transfer window closes.
There is not a lot of time left to do that though. And surely, clubs would not be keen to see their players leave this late in the window. That will only inflate the potential transfer fees.
It is not an ideal situation to be in for sure and Celtic must be criticised for letting it drag down to the last moment once again. This is not the first time the club have been in such a situation.
