Celtic are caught in a tough spot when it comes to their left-back situation. Alex Valle's loan deal was cut short and he has now joined Como. On the other hand, it looks like the Hoops won't be able to agree a loan deal with Arsenal for Kieran Tierney, who appears to be set to remain there until the end of the season.

Celtic are believed to have agreed a pre-contract with Tierney already, which will see him join the club in the summer. But until then, they might need to bring in a short-term fix at left-back.

Tyrell Malacia of Manchester United is someone they have been linked with recently. And there is some positive news for the Hoops in that regard, as one other suitor for his signature seems to be out of the race now.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Malacia’s loan move to Benfica from Manchester United has definitely collapsed. There was no agreement on the fee and future buy option. The Premier League club keep looking at options for the left-back as there are several loan requests.

Celtic are believed to be one of the clubs interested in signing Malacia on loan. It remains to be seen if they do end up making a serious push to sign him this winter or not.

Malacia joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022 but has struggled with injury during that period of time. So far, he has only made 46 appearances for the club.

One would hope that Celtic do end up bringing in a left-back, whether that is Malacia or something else. With so many big games coming up in the second half of the season, it might be a risky move to just go into it with Greg Taylor as the only genuine starting option.
