Over the past week or so, we have seen Celtic being linked with a variety of managers since Brendan Rodgers resigned. There have been suggestions that Martin O'Neill could be handed the job until the summer after making a bright start as the interim boss, which includes a win over the Rangers at Hampden Park already.
That being said, he is 73 years of age. O'Neill is not a long-term solution, no matter which way you look at the situation. So, if the right option becomes available, Celtic need to consider the idea.
One of the managers they have been most heavily linked with is Kieran McKenna. Earlier, it had been suggested that he was not keen on leaving Ipswich Town in the middle of the season. But it looks like the situation has quickly taken a turn.
As reported by Football Insider, McKenna is “very interested” in the vacant managerial role at Celtic. He is becoming increasingly unsettled at Portman Road and is suddenly being questioned by Ipswich Town's hierarchy.
'Very interested' - Kieran McKenna to Celtic takes sudden U-turn
It is safe to say that McKenna has exceeded all expectations that were set for him when he was appointed as Ipswich Town manager. He won them back-to-back promotions to take them from League One to the Premier League.
McKenna was not able to keep Ipswich Town in the Premier League though. And they have been far from impressive in their season back in the Championship, as they currently sit in 10th position.
So, it is not hard to see why the Ipswich Town hierarchy might be starting to wonder if the time has come to part ways with McKenna. On the other hand, the opportunity to manage Celtic might be starting to look increasingly attractive to the manager as well.
