It is a tale as old as time. Premier League clubs being interested in Celtic players. We have seen plenty make the move from Glasgow to England over the years. Just last summer, Matt O'Riley joined Brighton & Hove Albion for a Scottish record transfer fee. And moving forward, there are going to be plenty who move down south.

In recent times, Greg Taylor has been linked with a move away from Celtic with his contract running out. But it looks like his opposite full-back is drawing interest as well.

Alistair Johnston has been a consistent performer for Celtic over the years. He has taken his levels up this season and has added more to his game. And it looks like his displays have caught the eye of teams in the Premier League.

The two Premier League teams who are interested in Johnston are Fulham and Ipswich Town. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, The Athletic's David Ornstein wrote:

"I know Celtic right-back Alistair Johnston is generating attention from clubs in England, with Fulham among his admirers.

“The Canada international recently signed a new contract at Parkhead and isn’t known to be unhappy – but there was firm interest in January.

“From what I hear it’s not only Fulham but also Ipswich and others who are looking at him.

“Johnston was named in the Best FIFA Men’s XI last year, so this is probably no surprise and I’d expect more suitors to emerge from the Premier League and across Europe in the summer."

Johnston is very important to this current Celtic setup. As a result, fans will be hoping that he does not leave anytime soon.

Johnston was brought in the winter of 2023 when Josip Juranovic left the club in order to join Union Berlin. And he has done a brilliant job as Celtic's number one right-back since then.

Of course, when Premier League clubs come calling it becomes difficult for Celtic to keep their players. It remains to be seen if Johnston ends up remaining at Parkhead beyond this season or not.

He does seem like the type of player who could have a long career at Celtic if he wanted and establish himself as a club legend. Let's see how this entire saga plays out as we head towards the summer transfer window.
