Celtic bounced back from their defeat at the hands of Hibernian with a 5-1 win over Aberdeen in midweek. And they will look to continue their march towards the league title when they take on St Mirren this weekend. Amid all this, there is some more positive news for the Hoops, even though it won't have an effect on the points table.

There had been a lot of controversy in that game against Hibernian. Daizen Maeda had scored the equaliser for Celtic and it had been given by the on-field officials.

The issue arose when VAR intervened and ruled the goal out after determining that the ball had gone out of play before Alistair Johnston had put in his cross. The issue is, there was no definite evidence suggesting that it had.

As a result, Brendan Rodgers was not happy after the game, neither were the Celtic supporters. And they will feel vindicated by the latest SFA ruling regarding the incident.

As reported by the Daily Record, the SFA's Key Match Incident panel have overwhelmingly determined that Maeda's goal against Hibernian should have been allowed to stand. A majority of four panellists felt that VAR should not have intervened, while one member was of the opinion that the technology was right. The report read:

"The majority (4:1) of the panel deemed the on-field decision of goal to be correct. They felt the factual VAR intervention for the ball being out of play was incorrect. One panel member felt VAR was correct to intervene as they believed one of the angles showed the ball out of play."

Of course, this will not have any effect on the game. Instead, this is a reminder that Celtic should have one more point than they do.

At the end of the day though, it is a 'moral victory' of sorts, if not anything else. With that now behind us, it is time to focus on the task ahead. That involves mathematically finishing the league title race as soon as possible and retaining the Scottish Cup in order to complete the treble.
