Two former Celtic players in running to replace Gary Lineker on MOTD
Gary Lineker has been presenting Match of the Day since 1999. But he will be leaving his iconic role at the end of this season. That means that a replacement will need to be found and there are a lot of potential candidates for the role. And it looks like two former Celtic players might be in the running as well.
Dion Dublin seems to be one of the favourites for the role according to bookmakers. Although there are a few like Mark Chapman and Alex Scott ahead of him.
On the other hand, Chris Sutton has also been named amongst candidates to replace Lineker might some bookmakers. But he is one of the frontrunners for sure.
Of course, there is not much left to be said for the career that Sutton enjoyed at Celtic. He was part of one of the club's most iconic teams of all time. Since retiring from the game, he has made a successful transition to the broadcasting world after a short and uneventful managerial career.

Dublin's spell at Celtic was much less noteworthy. He spent a very short time at the club towards the end of his career and only managed to score one goal for the Hoops before departing. He would then have a spell at Norwich City in the Championship before retiring.
Incidentally, Dublin was brought in by Celtic to replace Sutton, who had left in early 2006. It is good to see that both have found success in their careers after retiring from football.
Of course, fans of Lineker's work do not need to be worried. While he is leaving his iconic role on Match of the Day, he is not retiring and will continue to covering the sport moving forward.
