Adam Idah has been a topic of heavy discussion among Celtic fans this summer. Most would like to see him being signed on a permanent basis from Norwich City. Not many were convinced when he was brought in on loan in the winter but the Irish striker won the supporters over with his performances, scoring 9 goals for the Hoops including the Scottish Cup final winner against the Rangers.

Will that prove to be his last contribution in a Celtic jersey? That remains to be seen. The situation is far from straightforward, as the Hoops did not have a buyout option included in the loan deal, which means that Norwich City hold all the cards and they are holding them close to their chest.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic are edging closer to a deal for Idah. Norwich sources believe it could soon be struck, potentially in time for Sunday’s Premiership opener. The Irish striker is understood to be keen on a Parkhead return and further talks are expected between the clubs in the coming days.

The update had raised hopes that Celtic were close to signing Idah. But now, it looks like the news could unfortunately be wide of the mark.

Another twist in Adam Idah to Celtic transfer saga

As tweeted by Paddy Davitt, Norwich City's position is unchanged. Until any club meets their valuation Idah stays put. There is certainly no sense at this stage that this is now in the end game.

There have been some interesting developments in the Idah situation over the last week though. He missed a pre-season friendly with what was believed to be a minor knock. Then he missed the following due to internal issues after he was late for a flight.

Let's see how things transpire in the Idah to Celtic saga. It might be time to look at alternative striker options.
