Midfield seems to be one of many areas where Celtic are looking to improve this summer. They have been linked with quite a few midfielders over the past few months, although they are yet to make an addition there. One can only hope that that will change soon. Interestingly, one of their targets had looked close to completing a move recently but that saga has taken an unexpected twist at the last minute. Could that open up a window of opportunity for the Hoops to swoop in?

The player we are talking about is Moussa Baradji. The French midfielder, capable of playing as both a number 8 and a number 6, has been a standout in the Swiss league with Yverdon Sport.

It had looked like he was headed to Blackburn Rovers, ending Celtic's chances of signing. But now, it looks like there could be a second chance for Celtic.

As reported by The Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn Rovers' deal to sign Baradji has stalled. The 24-year-old midfielder flew in on Wednesday and was preparing for medical testing later that day. However, the deal has not proven to be as straightforward and discussions are ongoing between all three parties to get the move back on track

It remains to be seen how things unfold in the Baradji saga. If the move ends up collapsing, will Celtic try to reignite their interest in signing him?

We will find out in the near future. Judging by the recent rumours, it does look like Celtic are more focused on signing strikers, wingers and centre-backs right now, with multiple targets in those positions.

Of course, the situation could change over the coming weeks. For now, there is no reason to believe that the Baradji move to Blackburn Rovers is completely off, although it has clearly met an obstacle that was unexpected.
