Former Celtic captain Tom Boyd has weighed in on Martin O'Neill's future amid building pressure on the veteran boss.
The Hoops have lost their last three games, including back-to-back Old Firm defeats to Rangers that saw them produce two completely flat performances that will have enraged supporters.
Ever since the Champions League qualifying second leg with LASK that saw Celtic blow a four goal lead, the Hoops simply can't seem to pull themselves out of a rut when things start going wrong.
Martin O'Neill doesn't seem to have the answers, and there is real concern about how this situation gets fixed. There is talk of O'Neill walking away due to a hint he dropped over the weekend, telling reporters they will know if he feels he cannot find solutions for the current problems.
But former Hoops skipper Boyd believes there should be no questions about O'Neill continuing in his role, but he admits a new system must be found.
"I don't see a reason why he wouldn't," he told Sky Sports. "I know he is 74, but last year he was winning a double for us. I can't read Martin's mind, but at the moment, I don't see why there would be any decision about that.
"We are top of the league at the moment, but it's early days, we need to get better. I know that. The performances over the last few weeks, and possibly the LASK game has shot the players' confidence. They need to try to get it back. The manager needs to try to get the system to suit them. "
Not to suggest Boyd's comments aren't solely his own opinion, but it is worth mentioning that he does have a long association working with the club, so it's unlikely we are going to get anything too controversial from him, like calling for a manager to be sacked or blaming the board, not that he necessarily feels that way.
