Celtic have a habit of getting involved in long-running sagas. Just look at the one for Mathias Kvistgaarden, which has run on for two years now and nobody is exactly sure whether the club's interest in the player is now over or not. Something similar is playing out with Michel-Ange Balikwisha of Royal Antwerp, although shorter in length.

On the other hand, there are some sagas surrounding Celtic exits as well. The impending departure of Greg Taylor certainly falls under that category.

For months, it has been believed that Taylor is set to leave Celtic at the end of his contract. Yet, an official announcement was not made at the end of the season.

So, there were many who had held on to hope that there would be some U-turn and Taylor would end up staying at Celtic. Now, it is pretty clear that is not going to happen as reports coming out of Greece have provided an update on the situation as it stands.

As reported by Novasports, Taylor is now a breath away from joining PAOK. He is expected to finalise his agreement for a three-year contract with the Greek club.

Taylor spent six seasons playing for Celtic, having joined the club in 2019 and spending the majority of his time at Parkhead as a starter. One could argue that he never got his fair share of credit.

Now, with Taylor set to leave, it looks like a lot of fans would be open to the idea of him being handed an extension. But it looks like it is too late for that already. Of course, Brendan Rodgers was clearly interested in the idea and openly admitted it to the media on multiple occasions. But it appears that the Scot was not open to spending his prime years playing the role of a backup to Kieran Tierney.

That does not mean that he won't have any competition at PAOK, who have the experienced Abdul Baba Rahman as their starter there and he has made more than 100 appearances for them since arriving in 2023. Taylor will have some familiar faces waiting for him in Greece as well. Jonjoe Kenny joined the club very recently.

History will remember Taylor fondly and he will be viewed as a club hero. In his six years at Celtic, he made 216 appearances for the club and won 11 trophies.
