Often the winter transfer window can mean a worrying time for Celtic fans and perhaps Brendan Rodgers too. There always seems to be the risk of an offer coming in for a key player which could weaken the team at a critical point in the season. And it looks like three clubs are looking for the signature of one of the Hoops players.
Right now though there is a sense that for this particular player, a move might be sensible for all parties involved. We are talking about none other than Luis Palma.
Palma made a bright start at the club after signing in the summer of 2023. He scored goals regularly, looked effective down the left flank, and seemed capable of pulling off magical moments in the final third. Subsequently, though, he has slipped out of the team.
Under the management of Rodgers, the team has progressed to another level and Palma has been left behind. He’s operating below that new level and was unable to hold down a place in the team. This season he has only made eight appearances, mainly as a substitute, and has only made the starting XI twice.
Three clubs have made contact to sign Celtic player
Palma hasn't made the most of those opportunities. In the draw away against Dundee United at the weekend, he came on as a substitute while the team was chasing a goal. He did make a bright start, but that faded quickly after just a few minutes on the pitch. It may well have been his final chance. He was back on the bench against Motherwell in midweek but wasn't brought on.
As reported by La Prensa (via Daily Record), Palma is 'approaching his final days' in Glasgow. Three clubs - Greek side Olympiacos as well as two unnamed MLS teams - have made contact with the player over a possible move.
Any of those could well be likely options for the player. A move would seem to make sense all around, especially if Rodgers can bring in more strength and options down the left flank in January as a result of Palma leaving.
