The recent meeting between the board and the Celtic Fans Collective was viewed by most people as a chance to settle down the situation a bit after what has been more than a month of dissatisfaction on the part of the supporters. But unfortunately, nothing of note came out of the event. In fact, it might very well have made the situation worse than it already was.
It remains to be seen how things develop from here. With the international break going on at the moment, it is hard to predict what the reaction of the supporters will be when the Hoops return to action.
One has to remember that the silent protests that had been arranged were called off due to the scheduling of the meeting with the board. It is very possible that they are back on the table now, along with other things.
Celtic recently put out an announcement that tickets for the game between Celtic and Falkirk, set to take place on October 29, were now on general sale. But the supporters appear to have other things in mind.
'The board certainly' - Celtic fans react to morning announcement
One Celtic fan wrote about the matter: "The board certainly won’t be looking forward to it. Probably some hilarious note on the balance sheet on their phone to look at though."
Others seem to be unimpressed with how the team has performed in recent times: "The team have been on a break for about 8 months."
It remains to be seen how things play out moving forward. But it is pretty safe to say that it is far from ideal at this point in time and one can only hope that something happens to improve the mood as soon as possible.
Nothing does that like a good run of form and some wins. Let's see if this team is capable of pulling that off. But even if they do, it might not be enough to satisfy the supporters, who have seen the club just do enough to win in Scotland for many years now.
Progress and ambition are what the supporters are calling for. Domestic success cannot be viewed as the end of the story for a club like Celtic, especially when there has been no real competition in Scotland for so many years.
After making it to the knockout phase of the Champions League and giving Bayern Munich a run for their money, this summer was the perfect opportunity for Celtic to take the next step by strengthening the squad. Instead, they did not even make the competition, failing to get past Kairat Almaty in the qualifiers.
