It is no secret that Celtic need to strengthen their options on the flank this summer following the departure of Nicolas Kuhn and Luis Palma, with Marco Tilio expected to follow suit. The situation has been worsened by the fact that Jota is out injured for at least the remainder of this year, leaving Brendan Rodgers scrambling for options in that area of the pitch.

Celtic have been linked with quite a few players capable of playing in that area of the pitch. Michel-Ange Balikwisha is the name that has come up most frequently but it has led nowhere so far despite all the talk and speculation.

Another name that is doing the rounds of the media in recent weeks is that of Go Ahead Eagles' Jakob Breum. He played most of last season in the number 10 role but before that, he had largely been deployed as a winger, capable of playing on both flanks.

Celtic have already signed Benjamin Nygren, who was playing as a winger but has been deployed in midfield by Rodgers. Could they do the opposite with someone like Breum? That is a discussion for the future. At first, they need to get a deal done for him.

As reported by Anthony Joseph, Go Ahead Eagles rejected two bids from Celtic at the weekend for Breum. It’s understood the latest offer was £2.6m, which fell well below their valuation. He has two years left on his contract and can play on both wings. Talks continue.

It remains to be seen if Celtic raise their offer in the future and if this leads anywhere. The fact that talks are continuing talks is a positive for sure.

Of course, there are other players Celtic could turn their attention towards as well. So, it is fluid situation as of now, but it can change.
