There are only a few days left in the winter transfer window, and Celtic fans must be having a sense of deja vu. Just like the summer, the Hoops have left themselves with too much work to do. It is a bit of a headscratcher why things seem to be so difficult for the club when it comes to getting deals done, while others across Europe don't seem to be having any of those problems.

Pretty much every day, there is an update about Celtic starting talks to sign some player or another. But eventually, it does not end up anywhere of note.

One player they have been trying to sign is Fares Ghedjemis of Frosinone. But will this turn out to be another of those transfer sagas, where talks collapse, leaving Celtic with very little time to work on an alternative?

As reported by Anthony Joseph, Celtic remain in talks with the Italian club for Ghedjemis. But there's still no agreement as things stand.

One thing that must be mentioned in this regard is that not only did Ghedjemis start Frosinone's game this weekend, against Virtus Entella in the Serie B, but he ended up playing the entirety of it. When a player is on the verge of leaving, clubs often end up dropping them from the matchday squad altogether.

Is this a sign that talks between Celtic and Frosinone over Ghedjemis are not advanced? Even more worryingly, could it be an indicator that it is considered unlikely, which is why the Italian club had no issue playing the winger the entire game this weekend?

To be honest, it would not come as a surprise to us if Celtic's talks to sign Ghedjemis end up collapsing as well. That has pretty much been the norm for the club.
