Celtic are said to be making an offer for a winger target as they ramp up their recruitment efforts. The Bhoys are now looking to press ahead with their business after snapping up Camilo Duran, with Martin O'Neill well aware that he needs at least a handful of new signings.

The Hoops are going to have to replace some key players this summer, with Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Arne Engels all expected to leave, and Celtic need to improve other issues as well.

Celtic advance efforts to sign winger

Celtic are now said to be stepping up their efforts to sign Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan, who impressed for Egypt at the World Cup this summer. Hassan played in all six games as Egypt reached the Round of 16, ultimately losing to Argentina.

The trip to North America came after a difficult season with Oviedo, with the Asturias side finishing bottom of LaLiga after winning promotion to the top flight. Hassan provided three assists during the season, albeit in a struggling side,

Hassan has been with Oviedo since 2024 from Villarreal, and he went on to help them to promotion. During the World Cup, Ally McCoist said of the winger: "The finish is magnificent (from Zico), but I cannot believe the talent [Hassan] we have seen on the right hand touchline. Haissem Hassan, my goodness me. He gets it 10-15 yards inside his own half, I cannot wait to see it again."

Celtic have seen enough to express an interest this summer, with journalist Christian Vaquero claiming on X: "Celtic, in CONTACT with Haissem Hassan for a 4-season contract. New offer prepared for 7-8M€ for the Egyptian winger. Real Oviedo insists on 12M€ but open to negotiating."

It's important to note that Villarreal still hold rights in Hassan's contract, and while they won't move to re-sign the Egypt international, they will pocket some of the fee he is sold for, which will play a part in Oviedo demanding a little more as they look to build a promotion bid next season.

According to Transfermarkt, Hassan is only worth a touch under £3million, so the reported asking price may be seen as alarming by some. But Oviedo are far from the first team to cash in on a player who stood out during the World Cup, and Hassan is only 24 years of age, so he still has potential to reach.
