The Celtic backline is starting to become a bit of a worry heading into the summer transfer window. There is a need to bring in a reliable centre-back partner for Cameron Carter-Vickers, with Auston Trusty failing to take that spot last season. On the other hand, the left-back situation is one worth keeping an eye on as well.
Kieran Tierney will be returning after six years at Arsenal. There is no doubt that he will be the first-choice left-back, the moment he sets foot at Parkhead.
Considering Tierney's injury history, Celtic do need a reliable backup option at all times. Ideally, that would have been Greg Taylor. But there are serious question marks around his future.
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Taylor has an offer from Celtic to extend his deal. But PAOK have offered him a two-year deal, with the option of a further year.
Sky Sports man confirms Celtic offer for defender
It remains to be seen what Taylor decides to do this summer. While Joseph does not mention anything about it in his report, there are have been other media outlets who have suggested that PAOK's offer is a lot more lucrative than what the left-back is receiving at Celtic right now.
Also, a very big point of discussion will be game time. Taylor is used to being the number one for Celtic. It would be very difficult for any player to go from there to being a backup option, especially in their prime. He is 27 years old.
So, it feels a lot more likely that Taylor will leave the club this summer rather than stay. Of course, if or when that happens, the Hoops will need to go out and sign a replacement. There is uncertainty around the future of Jeffrey Schlupp as well, whose loan spell has ended and he is a free agent.
