Celtic's focus will be on getting over the finish line in the Premiership title race this weekend, when they take on Dundee United away at Tannadice Park. The Hoops need just one more point to secure their fourth consecutive league crown. Also, they are looking to win their sixth treble in nine seasons, having recently booked their place in the Scottish Cup final in style with a 5-0 win over St Johnstone.

Some eyes are also on the situation unfolding at Ibrox though. It looks like the Rangers are on the verge of a takeover by an American consortium that involves the San Francisco 49ers.

Suffice to say, the Rangers fans are hoping that this takeover proves to be a turning point for the club. Over the years, the gap with Celtic has widened to a degree that this might be their only hope of closing it down.

As reported by Sky Sports, Rangers have said that they are in "productive conversations" with a US consortium. They are set to take over the Ibrox club and "inject additional capital".

Of course, there is no reason for Celtic to be worried at the moment. They are in a strong financial position as it is and even if the Rangers receive extra backing in the near future, the Hoops should be able to deal with that.

Also, just bringing in additional capital is not always the solution. In recent years, we have witnessed many clubs undergo a change in ownership, only for the situation to stay the same or in some cases, even get worse.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for this Rangers takeover. One thing is clear though, Celtic should be prepared for even the worst-case scenario.
