The transfer market is often a game of dominoes and Celtic seem to be in the middle of one right now. Adam Idah has already agreed a deal to join Swansea City and undergone a medical. And one would imagine that the Hoops are happy with the £7 million transfer fee they would receive out of the move as well. But before that, they need to find a replacement for the Irish international first.
Celtic seem to be eyeing Kasper Dolberg as the man for that spot. The issue is, they have not been able to get a deal over the line for him yet, even though there had been suggestions in the Danish media that a move was close to completion. By now, it has become clear that it is not the case.
As reported by Sky Sports, Idah completed a medical and agreed personal terms ahead of a £7m move, but was called back by the Scottish champions after they struggled to reach an agreement with Anderlecht for Dolberg. Talks are ongoing between Celtic and Anderlecht over the Danish international striker and there’s still a feeling that the Irishman could join the Swans before the transfer deadline.
Most Celtic fans would be happy if Dolberg ends up replacing Idah before the end of the transfer window. But considering the lack of efficiency that the Hoops have shown it comes to making signings, do not count on that happening.
Sky Sports drop Kasper Dolberg and Adam Idah double Celtic update
Once a transfer saga starts to drag, Celtic fans begin to worry. And it is not hard to understand why. That is starting to feel like the case with this Dolberg situation as well.
So far, it looks like Celtic have neither been able to agree a transfer fee with Anderlecht nor personal terms with Dolberg, if reports in the Scottish media are on the mark. On top of that, there are fresh rumours that Borussia Monchengladbach of the Bundesliga want to sign him.
One can only hope that Celtic are able to get a deal done to sign Dolberg this summer. But at this moment, it would not be any surprise if they fail to do so and keep Idah as their first-choice number 9.
