Celtic have been moving very slowly in the transfer market in recent weeks when it comes to making signings. Of course, this will not come as a surprise to anybody who has followed the club for any meaningful length of time. This is how the Hoops usually go about their business, which is the reason why the Ange Postecoglou era was such a breath of fresh air. One has to wonder why Brendan Rodgers has not provided with the same backing.
Anyways, there is some positive news when it comes to Celtic making signings. It looks like the club are on the verge of finally adding to their squad.
Of course, the identity of the player is not a secret to anybody anymore. It is pretty much public knowledge that the club have agreed a loan deal with Manchester City for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, a proper throwback to Rodgers' first stint at Parkhead.
As reported by Sky Sports, Simpson-Pusey has arrived in Glasgow ahead of his move to Celtic. The centre-back and his representative are at Parkhead to finalise the paperwork on a season-long loan deal.
Sky Sports confirm fantastic Celtic transfer news
Of course, many might not be happy with the idea of bringing in a 19-year-old, that too on loan, to play in the centre-back role. That being said, there is no question about the level of talent that Simpson-Pusey will bring to the table.
He was highly regarded at Manchester City, who arguably have the best youth academy in world football right now. And he was also named PL2 Player of the Season recently.
So, Simpson-Pusey could end up surprising a lot of people with how good he is. That being said, one has to wonder if he is being viewed as a potential starting option at centre-back or just some much-needed squad depth after several recent exits.
