There are many Celtic fans still hoping for the club to make a statement signing or two in the remainder of this summer transfer window, even though they have not spent more than £1.5 million on any of their moves so far. Despite that, the Hoops continue to be linked with high-profile moves. But even the most optimistic of their supporters must have been surprised with the latest Federico Chiesa rumour.

Nto too long ago, Chiesa was considered one of the brightest talents in world football. He even performed at that level during EURO 2020, guiding Italy to triumph.

But injuries ended up derailing his career. He would ultimately leave Juventus for Liverpool last summer but things did not go according to plan at Anfield either. He only made 14 appearances and played 466 minutes of football in total, scoring and assisting twice each.

Clearly, a change of scenery is needed. And out of nowhere, Chiesa has been linked with a move to Celtic.

As reported by SportsBoom, Celtic are interested in signing Chiesa on loan. He is wanted by Fulham and West Ham United as well. On the other hand, Italian side Atalanta are also keen to do a deal for the Italian international.

It is worth mentioning that there is zero doubt about Chiesa's ability. He is a pheomenal talent, who has had to deal with injury problems.

He did spend just one spell out last season and was mostly available, although he could not break into Arne Slot's plans at Liverpool. But if he can maintain his fitness, he could be a real asset to a team like Celtic.

It remains to be seen how things turn out for Chiesa this summer. Hopefully, Celtic can pull off a loan deal.
