Every summer, we see key players leave Celtic. The fans have gotten used to it over the years. In 2023, it was Jota. Last year, it was Matt O'Riley. Who will it be this time around? The likes of Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn, Reo Hatate, Arne Engels and Cameron Carter-Vickers have all been linked with moves away from Parkhead in recent times.

Of course, many who have left have found out that the grass is not always greener on the other side. One name that has to fall under that category is the aforementioned O'Riley.

Last summer, he joined Brighton & Hove Albion for a Scottish record transfer fee. But his debut campaign with the Seagulls proved to be a tough one, as he struggled for fitness and chances. As a result, there is some uncertainty around his future but no lack of interest in his signature.

As reported by Sky Sports, Everton would be keen to sign O’Riley if Brighton & Hove Albion do sanction a move this summer. Some big clubs, notably from the Serie A, have had an eye on him for some time. It is unclear what the Seagulls will do.

O'Riley was an ever-present for Celtic but has found the going much tougher in the Premier League. Could he leave Brighton & Hove Albion after just one season in search of opportunities elsewhere?

It is noteworthy though that O'Riley did start six of Brighton & Hove Albion's last eight games and had some big moments as well, including the winning assists against Premier League champions Liverpool. So, he did start to find his feet towards the end of the season.

Now, it remains to be seen what the Seagulls decide to do this summer. It would be a surprise if the club are willing to part ways on the basis of just one season. But never say never in football.
