Celtic never replaced Kyogo Furuhashi and in the big games, they have still missed him. Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah scored a combined 53 goals last season but when it comes to occasions of most importance, they failed to deliver the goods. As a result, perhaps the Hoops need to go out this summer and sign another out-and-out striker, who will hopefully fill that void in the squad.

Celtic have been linked with a number of strikers over the past few months. It could come as a bit of a surprise if they do not end up signing any of them.

As reported by the Daily Mail (via Football FanCast), Celtic are one of a number of teams eyeing up a move to sign Mathias Kvistgaarden. West Ham United and Eintracht Frankfurt are also interested. The Hoops are now weighing up a move to sign the Brondby striker this summer but it would take a transfer fee in excess of £12 million.

That would represent a club-record figure for Celtic. It remains to be seen if they show that kind of ambition this summer and go all out for Kvistgaarden, having been linked with him for the past few seasons.

To be honest, Celtic deserve a ton of credit when it comes to their scouting of Kvistgaarden. When they were first linked with him a couple of years back, he was not scoring a ton of goals.

But he has developed his game since then and is now of the best players in that league, if not the very best. That is a good look for Celtic.

The bad news is that they have been unsuccessful in signing him in all this time. So, the early scouting did not end up being an advantage.
