The Champions League failure was a hard one to take if you are a Celtic fan. It remains to be seen how the reaction of the supporters will be in the next game. But for now, the only thing that the club can do is go out and have a good end to the summer transfer window, with less than a week left before deadline day. It was their inactivity when it comes to making signings which cost them a spot in Europe's elite competition, and not for the first time either.
One of the weakest parts of this squad is the lack of quality on the wings. James Forrest and Yang Hyun-jun were the two starters on the flanks against Kairat.
With all due respect to both of them, neither should be starting for Celtic on a regular basis. But that is simply where this squad finds itself at this point in time.
As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic are in talks to sign Sebastian Tounekti. It’s understood the Scottish champions’ opening bid of £2.6m has been rejected. Hammarby are looking for a fee in the region of £5m for the Tunisia international. Negotiations are believed to be ongoing.
Sky Sports confirm Celtic talks to sign £5m international player
It will be interesting to see if Celtic are ready to meet that valuation. Hammarby are not believed to be looking to part ways with the player, unless they do.
It is worth pointing out that Tounekti does not have a prolific record for any of the clubs that he has played for so far in his career. Is another project signing what Celtic need at this point in time?
Well, all we can do is wait and watch how things unfold. That's what we have been doing all summer to be honest.
