Celtic have already agreed a deal to sign Michel-Ange Balikwisha from Royal Antwerp and that move is expected to get over the line soon. The Scottish champions had been pursuing his signature since last summer. But that is not the end of it. There are other areas where the Hoops need to strengthen urgently and it looks like another signing is not far away.
Of course, Celtic do not have much time to dwell on things. There is only a week left in the summer transfer window. So, deals need to be done quickly. It is a mystery why they left things so late when they always knew that they needed to play a Champions League qualifier playoff. This was an unnecessary risk that could and should have been avoided.
Coming back to the matter at hand, Celtic are now close to agreeing another transfer deal. And it is someone who will provide cover for Kieran Tierney at left-back, a profile that the Hoops were missing.
As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic are close to agreeing a deal for Boca Juniors left-back Marcelo Saracchi. It is understood that the two clubs are discussing a loan deal, with an option to buy in the region of £2 million.

Reports had already emerged in Argentina that Celtic were close to finalising a deal for Saracchi. Now, they have been backed up by the Scottish media as well. So, a move does not seem far from a conclusion now.
Saracchi has experience of playing in Europe. He has played for the likes of Levante, RB Leipzig and Galatasaray. But his stints in Argentina will interest Celtic fans even more.
He is one of the few players to have played for both Boca Juniors and River Plate. It is safe to say that he would not feel out of place in a Glasgow Derby.
Saracchi might be viewed as a backup option to Tierney, but he is a quality player himself. He has played nine times for Uruguay at the senior level and at 27 years of age, should have plenty left in the tank.
