Celtic will welcome Aberdeen to Parkhead this weekend. Normally, you would think that the Hoops would be overwhelming favourites going into the fixture. Things are a bit different this time around though. That is because the Dons look like a side transformed since the arrival of Jimmy Thelin as manager over the summer.

We are heading towards the end of October and Aberdeen have won all of their games so far. So, Celtic cannot afford to underestimate the challenge that awaits them this weekend.

Of course, most expect Aberdeen's early season form to fade away over the course of the campaign. Miracles can happen in football though. Nobody will ever forget Leicester City winning the Premier League some years back. Can the Dons go on that kind of a fairy tale run? Unlikely but not completely impossible.

Sir Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen team have been cited heading into this weekend's game. As reported by Football Insider, Frank McAvennie said:

"“I can’t remember the last time they went this long without getting beat.

“Sir Alex Ferguson was the last one to do that at Aberdeen, you know he got them, he had a team coming down and they fancied their chances every time they came to Celtic or Rangers.

“This man’s come in I don’t think they’ve got a team to frighten Celtic at the moment but if they keep winning games, confidence grows and people become better players.

“It’s going to be interesting but I think Celtic will put them in their place."

Sir Alex Ferguson claim made before Celtic vs Aberdeen

Ferguson achieved superstardom as the manager of Manchester United. But before that, he was doing wonders at Aberdeen.

Aberdeen won 11 trophies under the management of Ferguson, including silverwre at the European level. It would be safe to say that they have not been nearly as successful since then.

Just winning one trophy at Aberdeen would be seen as a major achievement for a manager these days. It remains to be seen if Thelin can do that at the club following an extraordinary start to life in Scottish football since moving from Sweden in the summer.

When it comes to Celtic, the aim would be clear. To get the better of Aberdeen and open up a points gap at the top of the table for the first time this season. They must end the Dons' fairy tale run when they come to Parkhead.
