Celtic were expected to make multiple additions on deadline day but were successful in bringing in only one player. Jeffrey Schlupp arrived on loan from Crystal Palace. It felt like a panic signing more than anything else although it is worth pointing out that the Hoops had been linked with him last summer as well.

It is safe to say that Celtic fans were not particularly impressed with the club's activity over the course of the winter transfer window. Now, one can only hope that Schlupp is able to prove the doubters wrong.

He has been brought in on loan until the end of the season. But his current deal with Crystal Palace is believed to run out in the summer.

So, if Schlupp ends up doing well at Celtic, there is a possibility that the club could try to sign him on a permanent basis. Let's see how it works out for him over the next four or five months though.

Significant wages Celtic will pay Jeffrey Schlupp revealed

The 32-year-old might only be on loan at Parkhead. But it is still going to be a significant investment for the Scottish champions. According to Alan Nixon of The Sun (via The National), Celtic will pay half of his £60,000-per-week Crystal Palace wage while he is in Glasgow.

That might not be a significant figure for a Premier League club these days. But it most definitely is for Celtic. Let's just hope that Schlupp delivers and this is viewed as a great decision on the part of the Hoops in hindsight.

Celtic might be in a comfortable position in the league but there are still a couple of Glasgow Derbies left to be played and the Hoops lost the last one 3-0. So, they cannot afford to get complacent. On the other hand, they also have to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League knockouts.
