The winter transfer window was a disappointing one for Celtic. They were linked with high-profile names like Christian Eriksen, Kieran Tierney, Danny Ings, Carney Chukwuemeka and plenty of others. Also, the expectation was that the club would make additions in several positions across the pitch. But ultimately, they fell well short of what the fans had been expecting of them.
Jota was the only permanent signing of the window. Jeffrey Schlupp was brought in on loan on deadline day in a move that felt like a panic signing more than anything else.
Most importantly, the club did not sign a striker despite letting Kyogo Furuhashi join Rennes in the middle of the campaign. That is despite important games coming up, including a Champions League knockout tie against Bayern Munich.
For a long time, it had looked like Celtic were closing in on a move for Mathias Kvistgaarden. But once again, they failed to land the signature of the Brondby IF striker. Yet, they seemingly have not given up on their hopes of signing him one day.
Celtic already eyeing summer move for £14 million player
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic will try again to sign Kvistgaarden in the summer transfer window. They attempted to bring him to Parkhead but were priced out of a move by Brondby in late-window drama.
To be honest, it is starting to feel like it is time to give up on this long-running chase to sign Kvistgaarden. This is the third time that the Hoops have failed to get a deal done with Brondby for him.
Sometimes, one has to accept that a move is not going to work out and look elsewhere. This might be one of those times for Celtic when it comes to Kvistgaarden. But it looks like they are not losing hope, yet.
