Celtic legend Scott Brown has taken aim at a former coach over his lack of personality. The midfielder racked up more than 400 league appearances for the Bhoys over 14 years, and he is just coming off a managerial spell with Ayr United.
The former midfielder spent time working under plenty of managers at Parkhead during his long stint, and indeed plenty of coaches, but he didn't take kindly to them all.
Brown launches Grant attack
Speaking on Open Goal, Brown took a swipe at former Celtic coach Peter Grant, who served as number two to Tony Mowbray in 2010. He said: “Lenny came in and we started winning games and the momentum changed from when Tony was there.
"I think if Tony and Peter Grant were still there, I’d have been away straight away. I had no time for Peter Grant whatsoever.”
He added: "Man management. Personal. Personality? Zero. Tony, I got on alright. But Peter Grant, no.”
Grant and Mowbray were ultimately sacked in 2010, and Brown stuck around to work with Neil Lennon.
Addressing his near move to Tottenham, Brown continued: “After my second season at Celtic I got offered the chance to go down to Spurs. They put in a bid.
“Then just before Lenny came in, at the end of my first contract, Newcastle offered me a five-year deal to go down there. Imagine me, I'm bad enough in Glasgow, imagine how many nights out I'd have in Newcastle!"
Brown is now on the lookout for work as he looks to continue his managerial career. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him rock up at Celtic some day, whether that's as a manager or a coach working under another.
The 41-year-old has so far had spells at Fleetwood Town and Ayr, He finished mid-table with Fleetwood and did well in the cup, while he led Ayr to the playoffs in his first season, he left after nine games without a win in the back-end of last season.
